CASE STUDY:

CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR ARTWORKS

01 | The starting point

Our customer acquired a new product portfolio and needed to change existing artworks to reflect the new co-distributor.

Artworks in medicinal products serve more than just aesthetic purpose: they play a crucial role in communication, branding, and even patient engagement.

Accurate packaging information ensures safety, efficacy, and proper usage of medication.

While thoughtful artwork in this field does enhance visual appeal, it also conveys important information. It serves as a primary source of communication between the manufacturer, healthcare professionals, and patients.

In regulatory terms: it upholds compliance with standards and fosters trust in pharmaceutical brands.

Packaging protects patients and supports the safe and effective delivery of healthcare.

In this function, packaging provides critical details such as dosage instructions, active ingredients, potential side effects, and storage conditions, all of which empowers users to make informed decisions.

Moreover, clear and accurate labelling helps to prevent misuse or errors and thus to reduce the risk of adverse effects as well as to promote better health outcomes.

02 | Impact and risks

The risks for this project were in line with the general angers of artworks that aren't well executed:

Recall and replacement costs

Significant operational costs might occur in retrieving and replacing incorrectly labelled products, including logistics, legal compliance, and the destruction or repacking of affected products.

Regulatory implications

Packaging mistakes can attract scrutiny from regulatory authorities like FDA or EMA – and thus increase the risk of fines or other penalties.

Reputation and health risks

As consumers and healthcare professionals rely on accurate packaging and labelling for their safety, errors in either one can cause adverse health effects and reputational damage.

Financial loss

In addition to the costs already mentioned, recalls and being out of stock can cause a long-lasting impact on product market share, resulting in significant revenue losses.

03 | Our solution as THE FORCE

Our Centre of Excellence for Artworks was formed to provide all artworks services from a single source.

Our graphic designers have extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry and were able to quickly identify potential errors within this project. They followed very strict procedures and quality principles ensuring compliance with GMP and PS 9000 at every stage of the process.

Their work was thoroughly reviewed by our Regulatory Affairs team who ensured compliance with applicable legislation and accuracy of the texts, followed by a final approval by Quality Assurance.
