Since biocides are designed with the purpose to kill living organisms, they might also pose a risk to humans, animals, and the environment.

Therefore, they have to be registered before entering the European market, as covered by Regulation (EU) 528/2012, better known as the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR). With this regulation, the European Chemicals Agency aims to avoid hazards and to harmonize the European Marketplace at Union level.

...a thorough toxicological evaluation and classification of your biocide: We conduct a risk assessment for both human and environmental safety as well as a complete toxicological testing as required by the regulation. We also include performance tests, in-silico services (QSAR and Read-across), and the classification and labelling of your product.

...the preparation of an ecotoxicological profile, via bibliographic research and the evaluation of chemicals in compliance with BPR.

...a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) that’s mandatory for you as a manufacturer, distributor, or importer, containing all information about the hazards associated with your biocide.

All results are documented in the specified IUCLID format necessary for registration.

For a better compliance with the Biocidal Products Regulation, we also support you with the design of your biocide plant and perform audits along with GMP training.

One more factor not to be underestimated is that staff employed in the manufacturing process of biocidal products are also exposed to their potential risks.
